How much more exciting would it be this Valentine’s Day to go out with your partner just to have fun, rather than stare romantically across the table again over an expensive meal?
As adults we sometimes seem to lose our sense of fun, yet laughing together and having a playful contest can be the best way to relax and reconnect.
Luckily, London is witnessing the rise of the games bar, from pool and ping pong to bowling and board games, there is masses to choose from.
David Lloyd in Raynes Park is holding a special Valentine’s Day bowling night. For more information please contact the club on 020 8543 8020.
Or try Tenpin Bowling at The Rotunda in Kingston.
Many local pubs have pool tables. But for the full hustler experience try a 24 hour pool bar like the Hurricane Room, near Tooting Bec tube station, where you can book a table by the hour. Book two hours and the third hour is free.
For a chic experience in town try the 1920 Bar in Farringdon, or branches of Rileys sports bar at Victoria or Haymarket.
Challenge your partner to a game of wiff-waff (OK, that’s ping pong). You can go local at The Garden Shed Pub on Hayden’s Road, Wimbledon [table and bat hire free, with a £5 deposit]. Or try branches of Bounce! ping pong bars in Holborn and Old Street, where prices start at £11 a table for half an hour.
For a more peaceful alternative, try one of the increasing numbers of board games bars, such as the Library Pot, at 86 Kew Road in Richmond, which has more than 400 games to choose from, plus an adult ball pit!
