Are you pregnant and looking for practical and emotional support? Lisa Harris is a birth and postpartum doula based in Wimbledon and working with families in London and Surrey (www.doulaforyou.co.uk).
Becoming a new parent for the first time, or adding a new baby to your family, can too often leave us feeling overwhelmed and anxious: but it doesn’t need to be this way. Hiring a doula can ensure you navigate your transition with confidence, peace and joy.
Lisa can help fill a gap in our maternity services by providing true continuity of care in pregnancy, through birth and into the early days of life with a newborn. She is able to build a trusting relationship that will protect you both at this hugely exciting but also very vulnerable life stage. And you don’t need to take her word for it! Research shows that having a doula in your support team can help you achieve the birth you want, reduce postpartum depression and increase breastfeeding success.
Coming from an NHS background, Lisa’s specific interest in birth and parenting has grown and grown over the past ten years. First and foremost from birthing and raising her own three children, and also through formal training and experience as a FEDANT qualified antenatal teacher, IABLE breastfeeding champion and work with the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Her main passion is helping you as parents grow confidence in your own intuition, as you carve out the pathway that is right for your family.
In addition to her birth and postpartum doula services, Lisa offers groups antenatal refresher classes for second and third time parents local to Wimbledon: these are packed full of practical advice about adding a new baby to your family. They are held in person, providing an opportunity to meet families at the same stage as you.
Lisa knows the power of positive birth. She hosts a podcast called My Positive Birth which is a collection of good birth stories, told in mothers’ own words. Do listen in via her website where you can hear one of her own birth stories, and get to know her a little better.
