The professional and highly successful Wimbledon-based chamber choir Sonoro, are set to perform a concert with Rachmaninoff’s monumental ‘All-Night Vigil’ (Vespers) on their home ground this Thursday, 22 September 2016.
Sonoro’s performance of this legendary work will be given at the Sacred Heart Church, Wimbledon at 8.00pm.
Later in the autumn, on 12 November 2016, Sonoro will perform in the area once again as they open this year’s Wimbledon International Music Festival with a performance of David Fanshawe’s African Sanctus.
The choir consists of some of the country’s finest professional choir singers, who are also soloists in their own right. They perform a wide range of works, from J.S. Bach and Handel to James Macmillan.
Neil Ferris, Co-Artistic Director and conductor of Sonoro, said: ‘We are thrilled to be performing two contrasting concerts in Wimbledon this autumn and it is a real pleasure to be opening Wimbledon International Music Festival in this, Sonoro’s first year. Wimbledon Festival is a prestigious music event boasting a glittering roster of artists and musicians of which we are proud to be a part.’
