It’s a known fact in Wimbledon and Raynes Park that leaving a pumpkin outside your door on Halloween is a welcome sign for trick or treaters.

With Halloween just around the corner, many of you will be expecting little ghosts, witches and vampires travelling from house to house asking for sweets.

This tradition actually began in the 16th century in Scotland and Ireland. Young people would dress up in costumes and perform a song or poem before collecting their treat.

Whilst many embrace this holiday, others may not be so keen on the idea. When you’re out and about with the kids on October 31 in your neighbourhood, why not look out for these pumpkins, so you know which houses to approach.

Leave a pumpkin your your doorstep if you are Halloween friendly. If not…turn the lights off and hide!
