Tucked away on Hartfield Road behind the Odeon and Bill’s is the bookworm’s treasure trove that is Copperfield’s Secondhand Book Shop.
With a maze of corridors formed of books and towers of fiction threatening to tumble down it is best to leave your bulky bags and items at the front desk. The friendly staff are happy to watch over your belongings while you browse to your heart’s content. Don’t be shy about asking them for help either, they have a wealth of knowledge on both the store and the books within it and aren’t shy when it comes to recommending books or authors.
It’s not just fiction that is housed at Copperfield’s, it is filled to the brim with a wide variety of sections from health, sociology and cooking to religion, poetry, film and if you venture upstairs music and much more. From well-known children’s author Enid Blyton to vinyl records of classical music movements and everything in between there’s something for everyone.
Next time you are in town give Copperfield’s a visit and we promise you’ll leave with a smile on your face and no doubt a book or two in your bag. With winter being the perfect time to curl up with a book and a pot of tea, be sure to shop local and support Copperfield’s.
