Here are my top Paris spots and tips on making the most of a weekend getaway to the city of love.
For dinner with a view be sure to visit Chez Francis on Place de l’Alma. With an incredible view of the Eiffel Tower from across the river it’s an experience that’s not to be missed. If you’re looking for something a little cheaper, opposite Chez Francis is Le George V. Their Italian style Steak Tartare and Rib Steak Bearnaise are mouth watering and the cremé brûlée will send you to heaven and back.
Galeries Lafayette, on Boulevard Haussmann near Opera Garnier, is to Paris what Harrods is to London. The stained glass dome ceiling alone is a spectacle that has to been seen, adored and photographed. Other than a plethora of high end labels such as Chloe, Gucci, Armani, Alexander McQueen and Roberto Cavalli; Layfette hosts an array of cafes, restaurants and bars. Head up to Cube Bar on the Terrace for panoramic views of Paris while enjoying a glass or two of champagne. If fashion is more your thing, Galleries Lafayette host weekly fashion shows on Friday afternoons around 3pm. Bookings can be made through this email fashionshow@galerieslafayette.com. We advise booking a month in advance to make sure you can get tickets.
The Eiffel Tower is obviously a must-see but for an alternative view without all the tourist crowds head to Rue de Buenos-Aires for a shot of the Tower in the midst of traditional Parisian Architecture.
