Wimbledon is one of the best places in London because of it’s location. A wonderful mix of town and country means we have the luxury of country pubs and chic bars and restaurants to warm our tummies and our bodies. At this time of year in the run up to Christmas I love eating and drinking with friends and family near roaring fires and Wimbledon Village has some brilliant places to go to visit.
The Crooked Billet
After a good long walk on the common in the winter The Crooked Billet is a joyous place to visit to warm up and enjoy a tasty meal by their roaring fire. It’s a proper community and very friendly pub where you will get chatting to all the other locals and probably meet a few of the gorgeous dog residents of the village too. If your visit happens to be on a Sunday make sure you enjoy their roast dinners!
Dog & Fox
In the centre of Wimbledon Village’s hustle and bustle is the Dog & Fox. A great place to go after work and for Christmas parties for both dinner and drinks. It’s worth getting the sofas around the fireplace if you can, so you can spend your night in the light and warmth of the fire. The modern interiors mixed with the traditional bar really fills you with Christmas spirit and it’s a lovely way to spend a few hours on a cold night.
Cannizaro House
Visit the country house hotel on the common for a sophisticated cocktail or rich hot chocolate by their fire. Every year me and my family drive on a dark winter’s night in December to sit by the fire, catch up and enjoy a drink or two. The warmth of the fire, amazing drinks and the occasional delicious bar snack is a really lovely treat.
