No gym – no exercise?

No gym – no exercise?

Is going to the gym the only way you can truly exercise? Of course not! There are so many ways to keep your body moving and increase your wellbeing throughout the day, without gym training. I absolutely do recommend the gym and exercise classes, however if you’re totally stacked at work or the kids are sick and you’re stuck inside, you can still get your exercise in and feel fab.

Here are some ideas for you:

Take the stairs and walk that extra mile

I’m sure we’ve all heard this before, but it’s worth making it into a habit. For example if you work in a building with multiple floors, always go to the bathroom three or four floors up, once it’s a habit you’ll do it without thinking. Similarly when you’re on your way to a meeting or a coffee date, park a few roads away, or get off the bus a stop early to walk the extra distance. Walking is a brilliant way to sneak some all important exercise into a busy day.

Dance like no one’s watching!

I love doing this in the morning (or anytime really!). Put on a couple of your favourite tracks and dance around the room. Energetic dancing is a great cardio workout, it’s wonderful for loosening up your joints and muscles and it lifts your mood. Dancing to music we love gets us out of our heads and brings us into our bodies, which helps relieve stress and overthinking, sing along for bonus good vibes!

Stretch anywhere and everywhere

This is something I do all the time; take a couple of minutes to stretch wherever you are. If you spend most of your day at work there are many simple stretches you can do in your chair (without looking like a crazy person!) In this video I give you some ideas of what stretches you can do while seated – if you’re short on time skip through and pick a couple that work for you.

This may sound like I’m a crazy yogi… but whenever I’m out and about I always do a couple of stretches when I go to the bathroom; reach your arms all the way up, bend forward, stretch sideways or whatever feels good to your body.
