Have you been suffering from the winter lurgy? Or feeling sluggish after dragging yourself through the last few freezing cold months? Good news – March is here and spring is blooming all around us, giving us more energy, more light and more motivation to get our bodies moving.
Spring cleaning and decluttering can be both internal and external – have you been feeling like it’s time to clear out that cupboard stuffed with odds and ends? Or wash everything in your house that can be washed? I know I have! We can apply the same process to our bodies. Changing of the seasons is a perfect time to do a detox and commit to new fitness routines.
My great grandfather used the slightly ominous saying “you dig your grave with your teeth!” Meaning what we put into our bodies has the greatest impact on our health and wellbeing. This is very true, and balancing healthy nutrition with regular exercise is the perfect combo.
Here are some great ideas to get you springing into fitness:
1. Go to a hot yoga class – the combined benefits of exercising and sweating out all the toxins will leave you feeling amazing!
2. Go for a morning jog or run outside – get out into the fresh air, get your blood pumping and your legs moving – brilliant for releasing those feel-good endorphins.
3. Swap one unhealthy eating habit for a healthy one – swap your first cup of coffee of the day for hot water, lemon and ginger to kick start and support your digestive system. Or swap your breakfast piece of toast or croissant for a jam-packed-with-goodness protein smoothie.
Remember it’s lots of small steps that build up to the big changes. Moving into spring is the perfect time to harness the renewed energy towards your fitness and overall health.
