Never fear – April showers do not need to stop you exercising. Even if you can’t get to the gym, or out of the house, there is so much you can do in the warmth of your own home!
I know getting motivated at home can be challenging, but that’s where using exercise videos or DVDs comes in. All you need is some space, your device, and you’re all set.
Here are some suggestions of great online exercise options:
1. YogaGlo: A low cost, paid service with a 14 day free trial featuring some of the best and most well known yoga teachers in the States. There is a huge library of videos of varying lengths, for specific areas of the body and specific goals such as core strength.
2. The Body Coach TV: A YouTube channel for free, quick HIIT workouts from our favourite, home-grown health guru – and he’s pretty cute too!
3. PopSugar Fitness: A YouTube channel for fun, upbeat fitness workouts that are easy to do at home. You can even shake your booty and get your groove on with the PopSugar dance classes.
Now, to make sure you actually do it…
1. Schedule your at-home workouts ahead of time. Put them into your diary or calendar for the week.
2. The day before choose which video you will do and make sure you have the space/ privacy/ time to do it.
3. Get your gym gear and trainers out and ready to go the night before.
These seemingly very small actions and decisions you take before your workout really do make it much more likely you’ll follow through. Because when it’s time to exercise and your mind is coming up with all the reasons why you can’t/ don’t want to/ are too tired…. if you have it all planned and organised there are no decisions to make, less opportunity to find an excuse and it’ll be easy to get done.
