Spring is in the air and it’s time to spring clean our homes and wardrobes but what about our makeup bags? These can often be forgotten about but are actually really important.
My professional kit has to be kept immaculate at all times, but my own personal makeup bag can end up in a bit of a mess! I can barely shut the zip and it is super messy inside with spilt foundations and powders. I love giving it a big clear out, it makes me feel so much better and saves time as I can find everything easily.
Here are my top tips for you to do the same…
  1. Get rid of any old mascaras, they only last a couple of months and keeping them longer will result in clogging eyelashes or worse it could lead to an eye infection. This is why I always buy cheap mascaras like Rimmel, I personally find them just as effective and then you don’t feel as bad throwing them out.
  2. Give your brushes a really good clean. I clean my brushes after each client but of course I don’t expect you to do this at home. But I would recommend at least every two weeks. I use shampoo and wash them in a bowl of warm water. You can also use conditioner to make them feel lovely and soft when you next use them. Also don’t forget to clean the makeup bag itself. Most can be put directly into the washing machine, and if not washing up liquid should work well.
  3. Get rid of products you no longer use! If you bought the bright purple eyeshadow as you saw it on your favourite celebrity but have never dared wear it yourself, then throw it away. Make room for new spring products that are going to leave you feeling fresh and renewed.
