AFC Wimbledon and Ghanaian international striker, Kwesi Appiah, launches charitable sports organisation to donate to those in need across Africa.
Earlier this year, professional footballer Kwesi Appiah, who plays striker for AFC Wimbledon, was inspired by his trip across Africa with the Ghanaian international team. Struck by the number of adults and children playing sports with little to no clothing or provisions, he decided to create charitable organisation, From Us To Africa, to help provide the much needed equipment that the community requires.
FUTA collects donations of sports clothing, footwear and equipment to send out to those in need and will officially launch at Centre Court Shopping in Wimbledon with a donation event. On Sunday 1st July, please bring any unwanted sports items to the second floor of the centre and donate to this brilliant cause.
Donations will earn tickets to a prize draw – the more someone donates, the more tickets they earn and the greater chance they have of winning a great prize.
Prizes include a Match Day hospitality package at AFC Wimbledon, a £100 voucher to the shop of your choice at Centre Court, a signed Kwesi playing shirt or a meal for two at Khanage Indian Restaurant.
Kwesi aims to be at the heart of the charity and will be travelling to various African countries as much as possible to help distribute the sports clothing and equipment.
