With the one month countdown to Wimbledon Championships starting today, we’ve got our eyes and ears on the latest tennis updates.

What’s new this week?

For the first time, a new broadcast service will be directly managed by the tournament, taking over control from the BBC. All eighteen courts will be broadcast by Wimbledon Broadcasting Services (WBS) who will have full control over the TV content worldwide. Centre Court will be broadcast in 4K Definition and will incorporate a new net cam.

There will also be a continuous video stream playing live on Wimbledon.com, the official website of The Championships. The website has also been rebuilt and redesigned with the ability to receive alerts on favourite players, events and countries.

For a personalised digital experience, join MyWimbledon, where fans can receive update notifications, access to an in-ground augmented reality and a personalised guide to visiting The Championships based on day, ticket type and favourite players.

Once again, those who were unable to score a ticket can enjoy the buzz by watching the action on the big screen at Wimbledon Piazza, hosted by Love Wimbledon. Now in its sixth year, the event is free to attend and best of all, no queues!

As you may have read in our last post, this year the AELTC announced a ban on plastic straws, but that’s not all they’re doing in their bid to improve sustainability. There will be free water bottle re-fill points for the public, a paper bag option at The Wimbledon Shops as the existing oxo-degradable plastic bags are phased out, and the official car of the Championships, Jaguar, will introduce ten electric vehicles into the courtesy car fleet for the first time.
