Inside Lady W’s Wimbledon Tennis Party 2019

It’s official: tennis season is here! How do we know? Last night, Lady Wimbledon kick-started tennis fever with her annual Wimbledon Tennis Party at the Hotel du Vin at Cannizaro House. If you were there, you’ll know what a great night it was; read on to find out what went on and who was there…

The weather may have been reliably unreliable, but the scene was set to tropical as exotic macaws Mikey and Mia swooped from guest to guest and Bezerkaz Circus performers created mystical giant bubbles that filled the skies above Cannizaro Park.

As 250 guests dressed in white drifted into the orangery at Hotel du Vin like so many little clouds, Wimbledon-born singer-songwriter Malory opened the evening with her mellifluous voice, singing an hour-long set that delighted the audience.

Next up on stage – and fresh from supporting Rudimental, Ellie Golding and Ed Sheeran – rising musical star and headliner Hatty Keane blew the crowds away, singing a soulful selection of tunes including her latest release, ‘Freedom’. The Manchester-born singer-songwriter is definitely one to watch…

The premium mixer people, Fever-Tree peppered Cannizaro Park with pastel blue and pink deck chairs and parasols, and their delicious lemonade was mixed with Pimm’s throughout the night to quench party-goers’ thirst (it certainly went down well!).

The clever folks at Sipsmith Gin created a bespoke tennis-inspired cocktail especially for the event, mixing their delicious craft gin with lemon juice, sugar syrup and soda, and serving it over ice, garnished with fresh strawberries –a massive hit with this tennis-loving SW19 crowd.

And up-and-coming beverage brand Punchy Drinks also brought a bar, serving up their easy-sipping Spiced Rum Punch in bottles, enjoyed by the guests throughout the night.

The Pimm’s flower wall was one of the busiest places at the party, with Instagrammers getting in the mood with retro wooden tennis rackets and balls provided by Wilton tennis – it was definitely Pimm’s o’clock!

And how can we forget the food? Hotel du Vin’s chefs whipped up a stunning selection of the finest party canapés and tasters from their new summer menu, including oysters, prawns, lobster, fresh salads and an abundance of strawberries and cream.

Outside on the terrace, Wimbledon Brewery had brought their own truck filled to the brim with their sexy new trio of summer-branded bottles of Wimbledon Gold, Wimbledon Pale and Wimbledon IPA. They parked up in a prime spot next to the BBQ, which filled the evening air with the tempting scent of sizzling sausages and mouthwatering burgers… the perfect partner to all that tasty craft beer.

An air of mystery surrounded magician and Master of Illusion Diobo, who came close to freaking out guests as he invited Lady Wimbledon onto the stage and, before everyone’s eyes, levitated her straight off a table and into the air! We could hardly believe our eyes…

And to round the night off in style, Flex FM DJ Danny Blaze played an exclusive Ibiza club set – guests didn’t hesitate to fill the dance floor and strut their stuff on stage.

Over the course of the night, a charity raffle helped raise a wonderful sum for our beloved local Polka Theatre, for which local businesses generously donated a range of wonderful prizes. Were you a lucky winner? Check your ticket and find out if your number was picked below…
