From Services of Remembrance to an internationally-renowned two week music festival happening right on our doorstep, we round up the best things to do in and around Wimbledon this November weekend.

SERVICE OF REMEMBRANCE

Services of Remembrance are a time to remember the members of the armed forces who have died on duty since World War I. They take place around the country each year on Armistice Day (11 November), and on Remembrance Sunday (the second Sunday in November).

The Service of Remembrance at Wimbledon War Memorial will commence at 10.40am.  Attended by Ms Clare Whelan OBE Deputy Lieutenant, the Mayor of Merton, Councillor Janice Howard, civic representatives and members of organisations in the borough.  Members of the Wimbledon Branch of the Royal British Legion and the 210 Transport Squadron will be in attendance. Following the service the Deputy Lieutenant together with the Mayor and representative from the 210 Squadron will take the salute.

WIMBLEDON INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Wimbledon International Music Festival – now in its 11th year – is back this November, and it’s better than ever. The 2019 edition offers a glittering array of unmissable performances, from rousing classical concerts and intimate recitals to jazz nights and masterclasses – all featuring standout musicians from around the world.

When: 9th to 24th November.

HIDDEN TREASURES, ART & ARTISTS IN WIMBLEDON

Special exhibition at the Museum of Wimbledon.

When: 12th October to 25th November. Open Saturdays 2.30pm to 5pm; Sundays 11am to 5pm; and weekdays by appointment only

AUBERGINE ART GALLERY ARTISTS SHOW

This specially curated autumn show exhibits new talents alongside a host of Aubergine Art Gallery’s most well-loved and collected artists.

THE ANNUAL KATHINA CEREMONY AND THE FLOATING FLOWER FESTIVAL

The Thai Ambassador of the UK will present the monks at Buddhapadipa Temple with the royal new robes at 10am. At 1pm to 5pm there will be Floating Flowers in the Temple’s lake, Thai culture shows and classic dances, including Miss Noppamas contest. There will be 25 stallholders of Thai foods and soft drinks, groceries, gift shop and souvenirs on sale in the Temple grounds on the day.

DAVID BADDIEL – WARM UP SHOWS

Following his five-star Olivier-nominated hit My Family: Not The Sitcom and the return to number 1 of his seminal football anthem Three Lions, David Baddiel comes back to the stage with a brand new one-man show, Trolls: Not The Dolls.

ANNIE
