High Heel Hierarchy is your online shopping destination for authentic luxury shoes, handbags and accessories… At High Heel Hierarchy, they strive to always provide you with exceptional customer service whether you are buying, selling or consigning high-end preloved designer items.
Roberta Patel is the CEO and founder of High Heel Hierarchy, a brilliant local female entrepreneur that we were so excited to be able to interview to learn more about the makings of this fantastic designer resale brand:
Who/What inspired you to start your business?
About 4 years ago, during my maternity leave from the Metropolitan Police Service where I worked as a Detective in the CID, I decided to treat myself to a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. As it happened these shoes turned out to be too small for me and I decided to re-sell them online so that I could get myself another pair. To my surprise I sold these on the same day and I even made a profit. I then bought another pair and did exactly same. Before I knew it, there were parcels coming and going to my husband’s shock horror who one day said: ‘Roberta, I think you might have a problem’, thinking I was I was going off the rails on a spending spree!
I revealed my little venture, he was very supportive and told me to just go for it. Shortly after that I resigned from the police and the rest is history. I built a website and created my social media accounts and now have a strong organic following and a worldwide client base.
Starting my business was not intentional but It has grown from my passion for fashion and my eye for finding a bargain. I quickly realised that there is huge demand for these little pre-loved luxuries, and High Heel Hierarchy is now an exciting online shopping destination for authentic luxury handbags, accessories and shoes.
What is the biggest challenge you have ever faced?
The biggest challenge I have faced was meeting the demand. The business grew organically but very quickly, and I wanted to not only scale to meet this demand but also maintain the quality of service. I feel I have a real connection with my clients and want to keep the personal touch which can get lost as a business grows.
What do you enjoy most about running your own business?
The fact there is no limit to what can be done. High Heel Hierarchy started as an idea which has now manifested into a thriving business, with more to come! The hard work required is made easier when you are rewarded for your efforts. The more you put in the more you get out. One of my favourite quotes is ‘Do what you love, and you will never work a day in your life.’
Which product/service have you enjoyed creating the most?
Our Payment Plan options have been extremely popular and I love the fact that it makes our designer items more accessible to all. We are also in the process of introducing the option to swap/exchange your goods for High Heel Hierarchy products. Many of my clients have fabulous pieces just gathering dust at the back of their wardrobes. They will now be able to select a new product and combine buying and selling into one quick transaction. Our business model is based on the idea of circular fashion, and our clients will be able to extend the life cycle of high-quality products by re-selling/swapping their designer treasures. As we all know: ‘One woman’s trash is another woman’s treasure.’
How will you be celebrating Mothers’ Day/International Women’s Day?
With a glass of champagne ?.
