Shaving is one of those things that we have to do on a regular basis – for many of us, literally every day. While it’s ok to accept that some of those tasks are just chores that need to get done, there’s also a lot that can be done to transform the monotonous aspect of daily life into something that’s more fulfilling and pleasurable. With that in mind, we decided to take a look at how you can up your shaving routine, with a few simple tips – read on to find out more.

No matter whether you enjoy using a cartridge razor or something a little more old school like a straight-edge razor, it’s imperative that the blade is made from a high-quality steel and that it has a keen edge.

With cartridge and safety razors, this means replacing the blades regularly – as often as every couple of days, depending on how thick your hair is. With straight-edge razors, you’ll need to hone the blade between each use, to keep the blade razor sharp. A sharp, high-quality razor makes shaving a far more pleasant and efficient experience, and absolutely shouldn’t be overlooked.

Prepare your skin properly

Aside from investing in a high-quality razor, the next most important thing you can do to up your shaving routine is to prepare your skin properly. While you can often get away with just using a bit of water, in most cases, this won’t be the best approach you can take.

Preparing your skin before you shave isn’t just important to make yourself smell nice – it’s also essential to soften the hair, and to ensure that your skin is clean and remains blemish-free.
