The annual Wimbledon Village Stables Sponsored Ride is back this year on Sunday, 23 October 2016. The whole Village will get involved in fancy dress, as well as 25 brightly costumed riders parading down Wimbledon Village High Street.
This event has been running now for over 40 years and during that time has raised over £750,000 for charity. The ride covers a route around Wimbledon Common and Richmond Park and to make it even more fun everyone wears fancy dress!
There is also competition for the best fancy dressed child at 12pm in the Dog and Fox, and not to mention the best dog and dog handler in fancy dress at 2pm.
It will be a day to remember, with mums and dads, friends and family dressing up too – don’t look out of place in normal clothes! There will also be fairground rides to complete the family day.
Adrian Mills, WVBA Chairman, said: “We are incredibly proud of this 40 year old tradition which is very unique to Wimbledon Village. Even with being so close to the centre of London we have this fantastic Village feel. I would encourage all local families to come see for themselves Carol, Wimbledon Village Stables Owner This charity ride has grown in popularity each year and the costumers keep getting better and better. It is great fun and to be able to combine it with fundraising for a good causes makes it even more enjoyable. The horses love it too, especially the cheers they get when they parade down the street. The media are invited to come and see the parades at the times listed above on High Street, Wimbledon Village. We can’t wait to see you there!”
