It’s far better to give than to receive, or so the saying goes, so on Valentine’s Day, why not go one better and treat yourself to something special? None of this waiting around in the hope that someone might spoil you with a lavish gift, who needs a partner for that?! Get out there and treat yourself. After all, you deserve it. No need to break the bank, just some lovely little gifts to brighten your day and make you feel good.
On my personal Valentine’s self-gifting hot list is a piece of jewellery from the gorgeous new Biography Collection from Astley Clarke, available in Bentalls. Featuring friendship bracelets and their now iconic diamond charms and talismans, this range just gets better and better, and at the affordable price of £35 — £80, you can choose as many pieces as you like to suit your mood and your bank balance. The new Zodiac pendants are stunning — 18ct yellow gold sterling silver zodiac signs, and the reverse can be engraved with up to 3 initials for that extra touch. I’m also coveting a lightning bolt ring, a hamsa bracelet…maybe mix things up a bit with a star stud in one ear and angel wings in the other. Where to stop?! Decisions, decisions.
Next on my treat list is Molton Brown’s Rosa Absolute Sumptuous Bathing Oil, £39. This stuff is divine. Its heady aroma of rose, red berries and cinnamon speaks of luxury and decadence, perfect for a long indulgent soak in the bath. It actually more of a milk than an oil, which makes it feel that little bit more special; you could imagine Cleopatra bathing in something equally exotic. So shut the door on the rest of the world, and spoil yourself.
Maybe whilst in the bath, you could nibble on some Charbonnel et Walker Marc de Champagne Truffles, complete in their beautiful heart-shaped box.
Accompany this little feast with a glass (or two!) of Taittinger Rose Champagne. There you go. The perfect Valentine’s. Who needs anyone else?
