Wimbledon is where town meets country, or so they say… You have a bit of everything, green parks, the common, a beautiful village and a busy town, all within a few miles of each other. Not to mention the spectacular houses and gardens.
You can find houses with a touch of country, or townhouses with a city look.
When decorating, it’s important to incorporateΒ surroundings, architecture, lifestyle and personal interests. Do you prefer heavy beams, cosy soft furnishing, or do you like your home to be modern, with a slight urban style? Sometimes a mix can be an amazingly good solution.
This week I visited a family of five Wimbledon home, situated along a field which reinforces the impression we are in the countryside. By adding chequered fabrics, curtains and some classic furniture they have achieved a welcoming and warm look.
The interiors are airy and practical for their use with solid furniture that can withstand rough use – they already have a long life behind them. The sofas have recently been upholstered, after many years they needed a renewal, and now they are ready to go for another 10 years.
Old chairs create a cosy place in a corner or by the window.
The colour scheme in general is kept in light colours along with classic checks and stripes, and some bold cushions.
As we’re in Wimbledon, why not add some touches, like a vintage tennis racket, a golf club or some classic Wimbledon photos? Guests from everywhere are thrilled by the atmosphere in Wimbledon, so why not implement this in your home.
With the Championships around the corner, we don’t need to be discreet at all, go wild and include the biggest ever flower bouquet in Wimbledon colours for your hallway or living room…
I think I will!
