Refreshing Summer Facial At Illumin8 Beauty In Wimbledon Village

Refreshing Summer Facial At Illumin8 Beauty In Wimbledon Village

With the Wimbledon Championships about to kick off in just a couple of days we all want to look our absolute best! It’s not just the tennis players who are preparing for the fortnight. Let’s be honest, we all want to look picture perfect, from sitting on centre court in the day, to an evening at Hemingways.

I visited Illumin8 Beauty in Wimbledon Village, as previously I had an amazing pedicure there, so I knew it was the place to go to get my skin in the best possible condition. I have had facials before, but this was on another level. In the end I decided to go for the Bespoke Illumin8 Signature Facial.

It promises a “flawless and pore less complexion with this personally customised deep cleansing facial that will treat the visible signs of ageing, blemishes, pigmentation, fine lines and wrinkles.”

The facial is tailored to your needs. My skin has been slightly dry (probably due to over-working and too much caffeine) so for me it started off with cleansing and toning whilst having steam directed on to my face to help rehydrate the skin. This was very relaxing, and is taken place in a large, private room away from the salon. The bed was heated and there was lovely relaxation music in the background. I actually could have fallen asleep in minutes.

Next up was a superficial skin peel which will rejuvenate and illuminate your skin – your therapist will tailor your treatment to your skin needs for the ultimate glow. The therapist will start with a low level of glycolic gel and the more times you go, the stronger it can be if required.

After this was the light therapy treatment which improves your complexion and gives you flawless glowing skin. This is done with a mask, and I know it looks very strange (see photo below) but I promise it is worth it.

The light is customised to what your skin needs by the different colours, and will go through a series of different coloured lights for 20 minutes. The different lights do the following:

Red Light Therapy: A naturally warming stimulant light promotes collagen and elastin production for the ultimate anti agent treatment

Blue Light Therapy: A naturally cleansing anti bacterial light for the treatment of breakouts and excessive oiliness and general skin congestion

Pink Light Therapy: The combination of the red and blue light works on pigmentation and uneven skin tone to reveal a perfect complexion

To finish, a moisturiser with a strong SPF is applied and you are good to go. You then can’t wear makeup or apply anything else to your skin, so try and have it done on a day when you don’t need to apply makeup afterwards. It was actually quite interesting going out without makeup, and I had a lot of compliments on how glowing my skin looked.

The day after my skin was still looking great, and as promised by the therapist my makeup went on so smoothly. It is recommended to go back for top up on the light treatment part of the facial a few days later, and again after this my skin was left looking great.

Whether you want your nails, lashes, brows or any other beauty treatments done then book in quick at Illumin8. They will be getting very busy during the tennis, so do not miss out.
