What happens when you ask a nutritionist to host a supper club? You get more than just the food.
As guests arrived at Lady Wimbledon’s lovely home this week, they watched me unload the many ingredients I had brought along as well as my secret little helper; my trusted Thermomix machine, with no idea of what they had let themselves in for.
Finally ready and settled, I started with one of my favourite soups; Carrot, Ginger and Coconut. Launching into workshop mode, I began by discussing the benefits of a varied, balanced diet, how important it is to include as many vegetables as possible in each meal and how to do it.
Just a couple of minutes in, I was abruptly halted in mid flow…”OMG, we’re actually going to learn something today – I had no idea!” Absolutely! Learning about the foods you’re eating and their impact on our health is key to understanding the importance of a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Always looking to increase fibre in the diet, my next dish, baked Chickpea Falafels does just that. Packed with plenty of fresh herbs and spices, accompanied by a tahini and lemon dressing and served with a Greek salad, this dish was a winner!
A little sweet treat to end but nevertheless an antioxidant-rich combination of delicious strawberries from Bayley & Sage – the finest in Wimbledon, along with my energising raw cacao chocolate bliss balls.
What’s not to love… a lunchtime “supper club” serving up fabulous healthy food with our dynamic team of bloggers? A perfect combo.
