Summer seems to have left us already but I am rather glad as my favourite time of year is about to start. Autumn makes Wimbledon Village seem even more removed from the hustle and bustle of London and with the leaves changing colours comes many brilliant opportunities to walk around the common and end up at one of the pubs for a delicious pub lunch. The three pubs on Wimbledon Common are worth visiting so thats three afternoons of walks and meals sorted straight away.
The Hand in Hand
The Hand in Hand is a brilliant pub and their range of food is enough to tempt everyone! Their cranberry and brie baguette is a treat along with their traditional picnic ploughmans. When it gets a little colder their horseshoe gammon steak will warm you through. Their vegetarian chilli is also a firm favourite of mine and is packed with flavour.
Plus if you’re into your ale make sure you visit them for a Real Ale Workshop. A welcoming and easy-to-visit pub, perfect to rest your feet and feed your belly after a walk on the common.

The Crooked Billet
One of my favourite pubs in Wimbledon, The Crooked Billet is always so warm and welcoming and I have spent many hours with friends and family having drinks in all seasons. As well as a great range of drinks, their food is worth the trip too. Their vegetarian options are great and my veggie friends are rather obsessed with the chargrilled aubergine, red pepper & halloumi stack with sweet potato chips. On Sundays they have a wonderful proper British roast menu where you can really sink your teeth into a fantastic feast of freshly prepared food.

Fox and Grapes
Fox and Grapes is a little pub tucked away in the middle of the common is a foodie’s dream for variations on the traditional pub grub; serving interesting dishes like Vietnamese style pork belly salad, broad bean & pearl barley risotto and roast rump of salt marsh lamb. The pub is cosy and very friendly, it’s great for family meals but could also definitely be a lovely place for date night!
