Why should Valentine’s Day be reserved for those in a relationship? February 14th is supposed to be a day to celebrate love, and there are plenty of different forms of love – so there are plenty of different ways you could celebrate too.
Here are just some of the best ways to spend Valentine’s Day if you find yourself without a date this year:
A date with… yourself
Who better to spoil on Valentine’s Day than yourself? Indulge in an evening in, set up a home-spa, and take the time for self-care that you would usually overlook in daily life.
Relax in a luxurious silk pyjama set or your softest and comfiest casual wear. Light the candles, put on your favourite music and do something you really love. Have you always wanted to paint? Cook from scratch? Write a story? Or even just the excuse to do some online shopping. Make the day all about you.

A date with… the girls
Turn dinner for two into dinner for a few. Get a group together and book food and drinks with the girls. Or if you want to try something different, why not take a class together?
Dress up and date your best friend – it’s bound to put you in a good mood. You’ll laugh, catch up, and be surrounded by the people who love your silliest side.

A date with… your mum
When was the last time that it was just you and your mum? Remind her of how much she’s appreciated with afternoon tea or a trip to the spa. The gift of your precious time will be cherished much longer than something shop-bought.
Give her an excuse to get dressed up by adding a little glamour into your own outfit too – she’s probably not had a chance to wear her best dress in a while.

A date with… the kids
Valentine’s Day isn’t always about grown-up love. If you’ve got the kids with you, spend some quality-time as a family by organising a games night or day out to see an exhibition or theatre show. If you’re feeling more adventurous, take a day trip to a seaside town or even another city.
Running around with the kids all day means comfort is important but let your individual style come through with colour. After all, wearing a bold shade is said to improve your mood as well as the mood of the people around you. A bright red is not only brilliant for Valentine’s Day but could help you feel more energised too.
