A cocktail of expression, individuality and happiness; a smile can say a lot. It improves your mood and can even have a positive affect on those around you. But having confidence in your smile is something some us struggle with from time to time. We’ve put together a few useful tips to help you keep your teeth looking healthy and bright.

Tweak your tea or coffee habit

It’s a little known fact that drinks such as tea, coffee and summer frappuccinos can stain your teeth over time. But who wants to give up their favourite beverage? We’ve come up with a more realistic approach which only takes a small change in your daily tea or coffee habit.

Try this: After finishing your favourite cuppa, give your mouth a quick rinse with water – or if you’re really committed to the cause, give your teeth a quick brush.

Look out for food dye

We’ve all experienced that bright blue tongue after sucking on a lolly or ice pop. These colourful, sugary foods are designed to look eye-catching and attractive, but they don’t do any favours for our teeth. Try to reduce your intake to protect your teeth from their strong dyes.

The same rules also apply to coloured sports drinks.

Try this: A useful way around this is to drink through a straw – less contact with your teeth means less chance for stains.

Brush after berries

They may be healthy, but blackberries, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries can actually stain your teeth – that’s why you’re advised to avoid them straight after getting your teeth whitened.

Try this: Brush your teeth or rinse with water after eating berries and you’ll be smiling again in no time.

Boost your smile

If you want to give your smile a boost, try natural teeth whitening specialist, My Natural Whites. Their natural ingredients work without damaging your teeth or gums and they do not use any peroxide or bleach in their gel.

The treatment only takes 45 minutes and leaves you with a smile that’s 8-12 shades lighter within the first session. Visit their Wimbledon salon at 50 Church Lane, SW19 3HQ or head to their website for more information.
