From LeBron James to Serena Williams, athletes are successful because they follow a strict dieting program. As humans, we are what we eat and what we put into our body is important for what our body outputs. Therefore, if you want to play like a champion, you will need to eat like a champion. Check out some of these health tips that may help transform you into an athletic pro.

Try a Vegan Diet

Tennis professional Serena Williams, NFL defensive end David Carter, and bodybuilder Torre Washington all follow a strict vegan diet. Studies published in the Journal of Nutrition have shown that a raw vegan diet maintains these elements: lowers cholesterol, reduces fatigue, limits joint pain, and increases energy levels so that you can train on the court harder and longer. Tuck in to plenty of raw vegetables, fruits, nuts, grains, herbs, mushrooms, plant oils, herbs, and fresh juices.

Make Lunch Your Biggest Meal of the Day

Some health plans place lunch as the biggest meal of the day and include all of an athlete’s essential nutrients in this meal. Studies have shown that people that eat most of their calories before 3 p.m. lose more body weight than those that ate their main meal after 3pm. This is because eating earlier in the day allows your body to work off the calories and lets you use them to power up your training or your other daily activities.

Pack on the Breakfast Proteins if You’re Competing

What you eat on your game day is a very important and considered meal. Most sports professionals agree that you need to pack in the protein for breakfast if you’re planning on going hard on the competitive field. This may sound hard on a raw vegan diet but it’s possible if you load up on oatmeal, mushrooms, and leafy greens such as spinach, kale, and Brussels sprouts. You may even want to put these all in a delicious green smoothie to boost your performance and capture that winning title.

The proof is in the game. Professional athletes everywhere follow a strict diet and it shows in their performance. If you stick to your food regime, you’ll be able to dominate the court, stadium, field, or rink.
