The weather has definitely taken a chillier turn, yet before we begin to get cosy at home there are still a few tempting treats to entice us to wrap up, head out and face the oncoming winter. Local food blogger Sisley White rounds up her favourite places to visit in Wimbledon when catching up with friends and family at this festive time of year.

Wimbledon has a lovely range of restaurants, bars and cafés, perfect for a treat no matter what the occasion and the countdown to Christmas is the best reason to visit and enjoy something delicious with the most important people in your life.

A Warm Winter Welcome from Wahaca

For a warming and relaxed and delicious sharing dinner, you have to visit Wahaca in Wimbledon Piazza. The Mexican tapas style sharing dishes with their rich spices and fantastic fresh flavours offers something you can’t find anywhere else in Wimbledon. With not one but two Christmas menus this year, you and your guests can choose to form the banquet (choice of sharing street food or a large dish) or the feast menu (the best items from the street food menu perfect for sharing). Don’t forget to enjoy a margarita or two while you visit. I’d recommend getting a pitcher for the table. P.s they have Mince Pie Empanadas for pudding!

Roasting near an open fire at The Alexandra

The community capital of Wimbledon has definitely been claimed by The Alex this year. The joy of this pub and hub of Wimbledon offers the locals is a pride of the area. Apart from their community meet up Mondays and the great work they do all year they also offer a venue with so many different areas to meet up and drink, enjoy a brilliant burger, frosty drink in the Loft or sit down for a gourmet meal next to the open fire. With their different areas, you’ve got so many opportunities to enjoy a get together at The Alex. It’s also worth taking a look at their Christmas menu which this year includes Venison, as well as other gorgeous roast dinners.

It’s getting Frost-Tea over at Creams Wimbledon

Newly opened in Wimbledon this year is Creams British Luxury and is a lovely place to meet friends for afternoon tea, or slice of their delicious locally handmade cakes, macarons or one of their new gourmet sandwiches made fresh on site every day. They have a huge variety of tea including the classic Earl Grey and the luxury vanilla rooibos tea. The calm luxurious tea room in the middle of the Broadway opposite the piazza is a haven from the fast pace of the town centre.

Their macarons are a hit with the locals and their customer service is one of the many reasons to visit keeps increasing.
