Spring has arrived in Wimbledon and so has our March ‘What’s On’. We’ve gathered up all the best activities to keep you and your little Wombles busy for the whole month of March. Enjoy!

Wimbledon Park Junior Parkrun

With the weather warming up, now is the perfect time to get the kids involved with this fantastic, free weekly event. Anyone aged between 4 and 14 is welcome to come along and run, walk or skip the 2km course. It’s a non-competitive friendly atmosphere where children get awarded for their participation and parents can help out by volunteering.

When: Every Sunday 9.30am Where: The event takes place in Wimbledon Park, Home Park Road, London, SW19 8AU

Braniac Live!

Braniac Live!

Science clubs and shows are hugely popular with our kids at the moment, and this one is set to be spectacular! Based on the original TV Show, Brainiac Live! is celebrating its 10th anniversary live on tour, with more volatile and mischievous antics than ever before. Expect exploding dustbins, combusting microwaves and plenty of daredevil stunts!

Catch it at the New Wimbledon Theatre on Sunday 10th March for one day only

Merton Music Foundation Presents ‘Liquid History’ at the Royal Albert Hall

This month Merton is taking over the Royal Albert Hall with its musical talent! This hotly-anticipated concert will be the culmination of over six months hard work for musicians from Merton Music Foundations’ bands, orchestras and Merton school choirs. Liquid History is a massed community music project, using the theme of rivers to explore relationships between young people in Merton and their rich, diverse cultural and social backgrounds. Join them and experience the energy of 1500 young singers and musicians raising the roof of one of the world’s most iconic music venues.

When: Wednesday 20th March, 2019 at 7 PM – 10 PM

Baby Broadway Family Concert

A great one for Wombles old and young. The whole family can sing and dance along to well-known songs from hit shows and films such as Mary Poppins, Oklahoma, The Jungle Book, Grease, Frozen and many more, in an interactive family concert performed by West End singers. As well as singing, clapping and dancing along you can expect bubbles, scarves, marching, actions and puppetry!

When: Friday 22th March 9.45 – 10.30 am and 11.15 am – 12 noon. Doors open 15 minutes before start time
Where: Tara Theatre, 356 Garratt Lane, London, SW18 4ES

Morden Hall Park is always a pleasure for a spring jaunt with the family, and their children’s activities are always so much fun. They have put on an extra special treat for Mother’s Day this year – your little ones get to plant their very own flower and decorate its pot for a gorgeous gift for Mummy!

When: 24, 30, 31 March, 11-1pm and 2-4pm
Where: Morden Hall Park, Morden Hall Rd, London SM4 5JD
Booking: £4 per child, no need to book. All money raised goes to the upkeep of Morden Hall Park.

Merton Music Foundation’s Hands On Workshop

If your child is keen to learn a musical instrument but can’t decide which one, then Merton Music Foundation’s hugely popular Hands On Workshop is perfect for you. Here they’ll take part in fun activities and get to try out woodwind, brass, percussion and string instruments to see which one is right for them.

When: Saturday 30th March 10am – 12noon
Where: Harris Academy Morden, Llanthony Road entrance, Morden, SM4 6DX

The Windmill Museum is opening for the spring and summer season

At the end of this month, this iconic building will be open to the public once again. Set in the heart of the Wombles homeland, the museum has exhibits for both the young and old, covering windmills and milling as well as local history and the Scouting movement.

There are also opportunities for children to try their hand at milling some flour of their own using methods from the past. And if you’re on Wimbledon Common but don’t have time for the full tour, you can still visit the shop for postcards, books, souvenirs and even Wombles!

The Museum is planning on running lots of special activities for children, so make sure you check back in with us for all their upcoming events.

When: Saturday 30th March 2pm -5pm, (the Windmill will then open every Saturday from 2pm-5pm and Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays from 11am to 5pm)

Booking: The Windmill Museum has no admission charge for visitors on normal summer weekend opening.
