I am so egg-cited about the range of chocolate and goodies available available around town that I’ve rounded up my choice of the best Easter treats in Wimbledon.

Easter gives us a great excuse to indulge the sweet tooth and add a little extra chocolate into our diets. As well as the huge amount of chocolate available, there are also the hot cross buns and roast dinners, too. It’s safe to say Easter is definitely a foodie time of year!

Easter Egg Carrot Cake from Paul in Wimbledon Village

For the sweet tooth; the Easter egg carrot cake from Paul in Wimbledon Village has been calling my name to enjoy it again since I first tasted it when it launched a few weeks ago. The beautiful gateaux is shaped like an Easter egg and topped with a layer of cream and a generous sprinkling of chopped nuts. It’s a delicious alternative to all the chocolate you’ll be eating over the Easter weekend. A little more grown up but still perfect for a family celebration.

The carrot cake is available as a large size, perfect for sharing, or as little individual portions which are so cute and equally delicious.

Hot Cross Buns from Gails in Wimbledon Village

I am very partial to a hot cross bun and when I can’t make them myself I love the ones freshly made from Gails. They are so soft and fruity. Packed with the iconic spices and available every day but of course they sell out quickly. They’ve also recommended a wonderful serving suggestion of adding bacon to the hot cross bun and adding a drizzle of maple syrup. I am definitely up for trying this idea. It sounds delightful.

Scotch Eggs at The Alex

As the roast with the most you’d expect me to choose a roast lamb as my favourite savoury foodie treat for Easter, but at The Alex I have to rave about the whole roast menu. It’s common knowledge that The Alex do amazing roasts and having enjoyed the whole menu over time it’s safe to say I love everything they make. To bring it back round to Easter I don’t know if you can count a scotch egg as an Easter treat but as it’s technically an egg I will sneak it in to this post. No matter what you order make sure you try The Alex’s award winning scotch eggs with it!
