Inside the Wimbledon Village Tennis Party at Dog & Fox

Tennis Fever has filled the shops, restaurants and bars of Wimbledon Village. With less than one week until the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Lady Wimbledon and 200 guests celebrated Wimbledon’s most playful time of year at the Dog & Fox. If you were there, you’ll know what a great night it was; read on to find out what went on and who was there…

On Wednesday night, Lady Wimbledon hosted a tennis-themed takeover at our beloved neighbourhood inn, the Dog & Fox. As guests arrived dressed in their interpretation of the ‘Tennis Fever’ dress code, DJ Lexbeatz and DJ Matt C set the scene to create a lively carnival feel, playing exclusive summer-festival mixes and club anthems throughout the night.

Lady Wimbledon made her grand entrance to the party flanked by none other than The Fantastic Mr Fudge (that’s SW19’s favourite show pony, in case you didn’t know) in a retro sun visor, and the golden man of Wimbledon – Mr Bond. James Bond.

The Dog & Fox is always the buzziest place during Wimbledon tennis fortnight, and the best place to go after watching the tennis. As we proved, it’s also the perfect venue to host a party bursting with fun and surprises! So as guests were chatting and dancing together, two other-wordly angels lit up with LED lights descended into the party and the floor filled with snappers and their camera phones capturing the moment. The eye-catching act by Bezerkaz Circus also stopped traffic as they walked on stilts along Wimbledon Village high street.

That wasn’t the only headline-grabbing moment, as UK Garage legend MC KIE flew in specially from Greece to London to perform his electrifying live set at Lady W’s party – just before making his way to perform at the Glastonbury Festival this weekend.

Also in the mix were some delicious tennis-inspired drinks, served from the pop-up bar hosted by Fever-Tree, where countless jugs of chilled Pimm’s packed with strawberries, cucumber and fresh mint were poured. Another smash hit with guests were the Wimbledon cocktails, including Martin Miller’s Gin mixed with premium Fever-Tree tonic, garnished with fresh strawberries and cracked peppercorns; and chic-looking glasses of Johnnie Walker whisky with raspberries.

As our high-flying stilted angels floated around and MC KIE was getting the party going, cricketing stars from the Surrey County Cricket Club and England team bowled up to join in the fun.

The world’s first distilled non-alcoholic spirit, Seedlip was also enjoyed by party-goers hoping to stave off a hangover. And Lady W Event favourite, local craft beer brand Wimbledon Brewery, served up their sexy new trio of summer-branded beers: Wimbledon Gold, Wimbledon Pale and Wimbledon IPA.

The Pimm’s flower wall proved popular with photographers and influencers at the party, and provided the perfect backdrop for guests to show off hands beautifully decorated by our resident henna artist Sofia. Her beautiful designs, drawn freely and unique to each person, remain a lasting memory of a dazzling night.

As dancers and merry-makers sought a quick energy fix, the dozens of bespoke tennis cupcakes by Zays Bakes scattered across tables were quickly devoured by guests as word spread on how delicious they were.

Over the course of the night, a charity raffle helped raise a wonderful sum for local homeless charity SPEAR London as people tried their luck to win a night’s hotel stay generously donated by the Dog & Fox. Were you a lucky winner? Check your ticket and find out if your number was picked below…
