Wimbledon Tennis Finals: The Lady W Style Guide

Wimbledon Tennis Finals: The Lady W Style Guide

Posted by Eyes of Lady Wimbledon | 12 July 2019 | Hot List, Lady W, Style & Beauty, Tennis Talk

Whether you’re lucky enough to have Centre Court tickets to see the men’s or women’s finals in person, spending your time in a pub with friends, or even watching the tennis on the big screen in Wimbledon Piazza, Lady Wimbledon’s style guide will help you look head-to-toe glamorous this finals weekend…

1 The Lady Wimbledon Hat Trick

Hats top off an outfit, and can elevate even a simple look. “I just love the silhouette a hat creates,” says Lady Wimbledon – who as you know, is never seen without one. As well as providing some much-needed sun protection for those watching the action on Centre Court, sun hats with wide brims are great for longer face shapes, while fedoras are perfect for rounder faces. Try on a few to find the one that best suits you – Lady W’s current favourite (as seen above) is this two-tone classic by London designer Helene Berman – head over to Trilogy where they are occasionally stocked.

2 Don’t Be Dazzled: Don Sunglasses

It’s important to protect your eyes – and you can look eye-catching while doing so. Sunglasses add mystery as well as symmetry to the face, plus they’re an easy way to update your look from season to season. Cat’s eyes shapes are de rigueur this summer: Matches Fashion in Wimbledon Village sells the best of the best designer wear, so head there to grab yourself a pair of these Stella McCartney shades – Lady Wimbledon’s favourite – or Bottega Veneta’s smashing Wimbledon-green cat-eye sunglasses.

3 Watch Every Second

Time please, gentlemen… A decent timepiece is an essential piece of kit if you don’t want to miss a minute of the action – plus it doubles as statement jewellery. Choose an elegant classic like this steel and Rose Gold PVD bracelet-strap Rotary Kensington: Lady Wimbledon’s shone beautifully under the sunlight in Centre Court last week. Pick yours out at Rotary, which features many classic and elegant styles, perfect for any occasion.

4 Fancy Footwork: Court Shoes That Work All Day

Good shoes take you to good places. And since there’s no way of knowing how long the matches will be, or where you might be headed, it pays to pick the perfect pair – something that makes you feel comfortable. Lady W’s top tip is to opt for a pair of mid-height court shoes or wedges. In a versatile gold colourway, with on-trend straps providing a bit of support, and an espadrille wedge adding a subtle edge, these Maiden sandals are Lady W’s go-to for all-day events: “They’re so comfortable – even after a whole day on my feet – and the gold is just glamorous enough to go anywhere.”

What to wear to Wimbledon Tennis

5 Dress For The Occasion

And now, the big feature: your dress. 2019 is the summer of the dress, and there are countless gorgeous options to pick from: floral, polka dots and tennis whites are all huge stories courtside (for more ideas, check out our style editors Hel and Mel’s guide to What to Wear to Wimbledon). For her recent tennis events and Wimbledon match dates, Lady Wimbledon chose flirty ruffles and pretty florals, including this gorgeous yellow Maison Maxi Dress by For Love & Lemons (£350, above); a tennis-hued tropical print wrap dress (below, and featured image). If florals aren’t your thing, a chic white dresswill cut a dash and keep you looking cool on your way to the courts – Reiss has a good selection.
