From country shows to waggy walks, we have rounded up the best activities in and around Wimbledon for kids this September – with plenty of outdoors fun to enjoy the last of the summer sun!

 

BBQ & LIVE JAZZ IN THE PARK – 7 Sept

Head to South Park Gardens this Saturday for a delicious BBQ and live music. A relaxed family-friendly event in one of central Wimbledon’s most beautiful parks, there will be a cake tent, a licenced bar and Jazz music from The Andrew Cleyndert Quarter and a special guest singer. Let’s hope the sun shines for one of the last BBQs of the Summer!

When: Saturday 7 Sept, from 11.30am

SIR JOE’S PARTY IN THE PARK – 7 Sept

Enjoy local park life at this fun, family community event in Motspur Park. Free entry with loads of activities for all age groups, including bouncy castles, face painting, games, crazy golf, free musical movement with award-winning Jiggle & Jam, local stalls, a DJ and a BBQ – phew! Looks set to be a super fun day out for the kids.

When: Saturday 7 Sept, 12-3pm

WIMBLEDON AND PUTNEY COMMONS OPEN DAY – 8 Sept

We can’t wait for one of the highlights of the Wimbledon events calendar this Sunday! The 24th Annual Wimbledon and Putney Commons Open Day is fast approaching, bringing a massive array of activities for the kids, animals galore, tractor rides, exciting horse and dog shows, unique and community interest stalls, and a great selection of food and drink on offer.

There will be a new Bird of Prey display this year, and Wimbledon Village Stables and the Household Cavalry will once again be wowing the crowds with their outstanding displays.

When: Sunday 8 Sept, 10.30-5.30pm

Wimbledon Common Fun FairWIMBLEDON COMMON FUN FAIR – 7-22 Sept weekends only

The Token Fair will run over 3 Weekends starting this weekend, alongside the Wimbledon Common Open Day on Sunday. Take advantage of reduced price rides between 11am-1pm every day!

THE CHASE MARKET LAUNCH – 15 Sept and Sundays ongoing

A new market is coming to Wimbledon! The award-winning City & Country Farmers’ Markets is launching a Sunday market in Wimbledon Chase on Sept 15th, just around the corner from Dundonald Park.

Take the family along to the launch event for a delicious selection of hot food and drinks, live music, face painting, fun for the kids with our friends at Dantastic Productions and special offers on a great range of fresh products. They even have tables so you can relax and eat on site!

WIMBLEDON FAYRE – 21-22 Sept

Another brilliant event for Wimbledon this month! This Country Show has something for everybody, with a range of displays from the famous Jonathan Marshall horse stuntsman (featured in Poldark and GOT), motorbike stunts teams, heavy horses and falconry and BGT’s Dima and his dogs. There will also be a dog show, a childrens area with petting farm and Punch & Judy , wrestling, plenty of food, drink and shopping stalls.

AUTUMN ARTS MARKET AND CHILDREN’S CRAFTS – 21-22 Sept

Wimbledon’s popular Arts Market is back on The Piazza this month with an arts weekender jam-packed with creative fun for the whole family. The Market will have over 20 stalls from local artists and crafts people, with plenty of arty activities for the kids.

The children will love a visit from PJ Masks and having a go at all sorts of wonderful crafts, including finger-knitting, sculpture and jewellery making, helping to decorate a life size horse sculpture with Decopatch, and creating beaded keyrings.

MERTON ARTS FESTIVAL – Sept 21-22 & 28-29

Take the kids on a creative treasure hunt and introduce them to the amazing range of local arts and crafts talent at this year’s Merton Arts Festival!

With around 100 local artists showcasing their work, from sculptors and painters to glass designers, it is set to be a truly inspiring family adventure! Grab a map and visit artists’ homes and studios all over Wimbledon over two Festival weekends. It’s completely free, and you can find a map at local libraries, Fielders art shop, or download it at www.mertonartsfestival.org

WAGGY WALK – Sept 28

Local charity Wimbledon Guild is holding a family dog walk on Wimbledon Common to raise money for local people experiencing social isolation and loneliness. Based at the Hand in Hand pub on Wimbledon Common, there will be complimentary refreshments and goody bags for all participants – what a great way to keep the kids active and help raise money for a great cause!
