Get Your Skin Checked At Stratum Clinics

A brand new dermatology clinic has opened in the Wimbledon area offering progressive dermatological care to the community.

Stratum Clinics has opened the state-of-the-art facility to offer all forms of dermatology including skin cancer and mole checks under one roof.

One of the first of its kind in the country, Stratum Clinics picked Wimbledon because it is becoming a magnet and destination location for innovative health and skincare facilities and treatments.

Stratum Clinics, Lambton Road, Wimbledon

Lady Wimbledon shares her experience of the day she met a Skin Specialist at newly opened Stratum Clinics…

It’s no secret I am a sun worshipper. With frequent trips to Cyprus and a quite literally a burning desire to spend long days at the beach with the kids, I am lucky enough to turn golden brown but that is not without a niggling feeling that I could be in danger of skin cancer. With appointments for me and the kids to see opticians, dentists, buy new school shoes, birthday presents and all other never ending duties, having moles checked continues to fall to the bottom of the list and seemed never to reach the top. Learning that the new Stratum Clinics was situated above my doctors surgery in Lambton Road, it was a no brainer to accept their invitation to have my skin checked out by a leading skin specialist.

I passed my doctors in the lift and went up the lift to the penthouse of the building. The waiting room looked like a 5* hotel and I relaxed watching the almighty view of the frozen road and people walking into Costa Coffee to get their Christmas coffee. Within 5 minutes a lovely young woman asked me to come in and talk to her about my concerns. She did a careful examination of all the moles on my body and took photographs using a special app on her phone of anything she was concerned about. Every time she took a photo, I cursed thinking about the times I lay recklessly in the Cyprus sun. She kindly reassured me that it was not to record anything that was wrong, but to have evidence to put against my next check in three months to see if anything has changed.

Once the examination had been completed, I was advised to have another appointment in three months to see if anything nasty has developed and needs to be removed. I had a choice to revisit the clinic as a paying customer or under my private medical insurance or be referred to the NHS. I was relieved that this was not going to be an ongoing cost so I asked to be referred to the NHS. They did it all then and there and two weeks later I have an appointment at Kingston Hospital for a follow up appointment.

Has the appointment changed the way I adore the sun? Not for the moment, I may increase my factor this summer and I’ll continue to wear my hat throughout the year to protect my face. However, it is naive of me to not respect the dangers of the sun, but I can only hope that the follow up appointment doesn’t scare my beloved trips to Cyprus for a little bit of sunshine which really is an important part of my feel good life.

Other areas of expertise include skin cancer surgery, hair and nail disorders, acne, rosacea, birthmarks, cosmetic dermatology, injectables, peels and skin rejuvenation, laser hair removal, tattoo removal and intense pulsed light (IPL).
