As news breaks of no professional tennis tournaments to be played anywhere in the world until at least 20th April 2o2o, Wimbledon residents and businesses are keeping everything crossed that The Championships scheduled to begin on Monday 29th June will still go ahead.

The ATP has announced a six-week suspension of the professional tennis tour because of “escalating health and safety issues” arising from the coronavirus outbreak. All tournaments on the ATP Tour and ATP Challenger Tour scheduled up to and inclusive of the week of 20th April will not take place.

Rumour has it Wimbledon would rather cancel the iconic sporting event rather than play behind closed doors if the coronavirus pandemic continues until the summer.

We are yet to learn the impact this will have on the annual Wimbledon tennis fortnight. We will be keeping our ears to the ground and report any further information as it develops.

The 2020 Wimbledon Championships Dates

Starts: Monday, 29th June 2020
Day of rest: Sunday, 5th June 2020
End: Sunday, 12th July 2020

At present, we are proud to be hosting The Wimbledon Tennis Party at Hotel du Vin, on the 19th June 2020.

In the meantime we wish the tennis community hope that the greatest tennis tournament of the year will run on time and smoothly as it has done since 1877.
