There is nothing worse than being a victim of pollution, no matter what form of pollution you’re subjected to it can drastically decrease the quality of your life in a major way.
So, how can you fight pollution at home and improve your life? Well read on as I’ve got some tips to help you remove pollution from your home!
Light Pollution
If you live in a built up urban area, it’s incredibly likely that you have experienced light pollution in some form and light pollution is now being recognised as a serious issue for many people. Light pollution is when unnatural light from street lamps or passing cars enters your home at night, making it harder for you to sleep properly at night.
Luckily though, there is a sure-fire way for you to block this horrible light pollution out of your home and improve the quality of your sleep, and that is blackout blinds or curtains. Most blinds retailers like DotcomBlinds.com will stock a range of blackout shades which will help cover your windows and completely block out all outside light from leaking into your bedroom and disrupting your precious sleep.
Noise Pollution
Noise pollution is another type of pollution which disproportionally impacts people living in urban areas. Noise pollution is a type of pollution that is caused (unsurprisingly) by unwanted and disruptive sounds whether they be from human origin like loud music or the sound of traffic, to natural noises such as animal calls.
You can beat noise pollution in your home with a few different methods. Firstly you can try stop the noises from entering your home, by installing better windows, using anti-noise curtains or by using cladding on your home designed to stop sound waves. Or you could drown the noise pollution out inside your home by using a white noise machine to cover the sounds of the outside world.
Air Pollution
Air pollution again primarily impacts people living in urban areas, but can also impact rural communities near factories and busy roads. Air pollution is caused by chemicals contaminating the air, usually this comes from car exhaust fumes but can also come from power stations, factories, and airplanes.
Luckily, there are different things you can do to prevent air pollution entering and circulating around your home. A good place to start would be to use air filters and purifiers in your home to remove contaminants from the air, introducing houseplants into your home to help purify the air, and using extractor fans to remove dirty air and promote good air circulation.
Smell Pollution
Whilst Smell pollution isn’t often mentioned when talking about various types of pollution, anyone who has ever lived near a waste management facility during the Summer or a farm during manure season will tell you, it is very real and can be hard to live with when it’s especially bad. Smell pollution is not the same as air pollution, as it’s an issue with just the smell and not the air quality itself.
There are a few ways that you can deal with bad smells polluting your home, the first and most obvious way is to keep your windows shut, but as these problems are often worse in the Summer closing your windows may not always be an option. Another option is to try identify the smell, if it’s from your property you can then fix that issue or if it’s from another home you can complain to your council. If all of that fails, the best solution is to fight the bad smell by using nice smells in the form of scented candles and air sprays around your home.
