The Merton Climate Action Group has launched their ‘Merton Garden Streets’ initiative to transform the local area into a greener place to live.
This is not only to encourage the community to be closer to nature and beautify their homes but to improve the air you breathe and the wildlife you see.
They have two incredible days planned where you can join your local residents and businesses for ‘community planting’. All Merton residents are invited to get involved with front garden planting, window boxes, hanging baskets, ‘greening-up’ bin/bike sheds and street planting (e.g., tree pits).
When?
19th June and 17th July
Don’t have experience?
No problem! The community planting days are open to everyone to get involved in. Don’t forget, there are prizes to be won. So, bring your family down, get stuck in and pot it like it’s hot. We’re rooting for you.
Take part as;
- Street coordinator: acting as a lead point of contact for your street, registering your street into this initiative, inviting and connecting with street residents, and liaising with Merton Garden Street for logistics and support. This can be a single or shared role. Sign up here.
- Resident: if you want to participate with hands-on support in this initiative (on your own or another street) sign up to our newsletter by using the form below or emailing us at mertongardenstreets@gmail.com to receive regular news and/or register as a street coordinator above.
