Al fresco dining is back on the cards as we start to see the sun and once again mingle with friends this Spring…
Here are our top spots in Wimbledon with various opening dates for you to soak up some rays and dine out this April and beyond:
The Dog & Fox – 12th April
The Dog & Fox will be opening up its outside tables from the 12th April. Reserve a table or book one of their lovely hotel bedrooms ready for May. For the first few weeks until 17th May, they will be opening outside only for tables up to 6 from multiple households or 2 households of up to 10. The hotel will be re-opening from 17th May
It was made for outside dining and the menu lends itself to catching up with friends and family, with sharing boards and platters. Dishes like baked rosemary & garlic Somerset camembert, dukkah, quince jelly and toasted bread, and if you fancy something a little heavier, cote de boeuf sharer, triple cooked chips, button mushrooms, grilled tomatoes and onion rings. Be sure to download the Young’s App before you arrive to save time ordering.

601 Queen’s Rd, Wimbledon
601 Queen’s Rd – April 12th
601 Queen’s Rd will be back open for Al Fresco dining from April 12th. Wimbledon’s very own tables with a view at this all-day dining spot are much sought after so do ensure you book. Social distancing initiatives are in place and orders are placed by the App. There are an impressive range of vegan dishes, and more inventive than you’d usually find. We liked the sound of vegan house breakfast – falafels, smashed avocado, slow roast tomatoes, field mushrooms, brick oven sourdough toast. Who doesn’t love home-baked bread? And this one has been fermented for 24 hours. London halloumi and crushed avocado burger is another vegan special, served with basil, coriander, shaved wonky courgette, garlic yoghurt and rocket.

Maison St Cassien – April 12th
There’s never a dull moment at this high street hotspot as you sit and watch the world go by over breakfast, lunch and dinner. Particularly nice for lunch, the menu takes inspiration from the Mediterranean and Lebanon. Simple sandwiches – mozzarella, grilled aubergine, basil pesto & tomato – and dishes that are great for sharing, such as hummus, tabbouleh, vine leaves, spicy potatoes, falafel & grilled Lebanese bread.

The Alexandra – April 12th
The Alexandra will also be opening up it’s outside tables on April 12th. If seafood hits the spot for you, how does lobster, fries, rocket, red onion and caper salad sound? Very good, we think. That’s just one of the dishes on offer at The Alexandra. We also like the look of fresh crab, scallop and spinach ravioli, parsley butter and orange, and home-made gnocchi. Whatever you decide to feast upon, sipping a killer cocktail while you decide is recommended. What will your tipple be? Aperol Spritz, Espresso Martini or a punchy Bloody Mary?
