It’s Lady Wimbledon’s Guide to the top places to visit in Wimbledon.
It has taken over 10 years to learn how to experience the very best of Wimbledon. Yet, as new places keep popping up, I am always excited to try new things and hear your experiences and recommendations.
If I was visiting Wimbledon for the first time, or not for a long time, there are a few very important things I would want to know:
Who serves the best coffee in Wimbledon
You are spoilt for choice.
My favourite place to sit down and enjoy a coffee to watch the world go by:
• Light on the Common
• Demitasse Cafe in Wimbledon Village
Wimbledon Coffee on the Go
For coffee on the go, it’s Paul’s or certainly Gails – both in Wimbledon Town and the Village.
However, I am still trying out new places every day. I will be popping into Hagen at the weekend.
I’m on a never ending search for the perfect start to the day.
Best Wimbledon Tennis Party
• I obviously rank Lady Wimbledon’s Tennis Party on the first day of The Championships, as the most glamorous party in town.
• However, If you are looking for great live band and that relaxed yet electric summer vibe, head to The Rose & Crown on the middle Saturday. It is buzzing with shiny, happy people.
Best Pub:
• During the week, It’s the Dog and Fox for me every time. It is looking seasonally beautiful this month; The perfect ‘Instagramable’ place, as is The Ivy opposite. I just love the pub’s outdoor bar, their live screens of the evening matches and meeting so many new people. It’s a lot of fun recognising familiar faces walking by.
Rooftop Bars:
• The Alexandra pub, Is not only the most convenient place to pop-in for a pint, it is also home to The Loft. Look out for their cheeky sign on the main road. Get off the street and climb those stairs. It’s the perfect place to grab a table in the sun for an ice-clinking Pimm’s.
• For a more Member’s Bar feel, find the black doors next to Wimbledon Station. 601 Queen’s Road offers a sophisticated London vibe. Perfect for lunch or evening drinks under their twinkling lights.
Perfect Wimbledon pub garden.
Take a stroll across Wimbledon Common, to the Quaintest pubs in Wimbledon, The Hand in Hand and The Crooked Billet.
• The Hand in Hand offers a gorgeous Pub Garden with great seating and food
• Order a deckchair from The Crooked Billet and spend a glorious afternoon on their patch of the Common.
Wherever and However, you enjoy Wimbledon this year, please drop me a DM to @ladywimbledon, as i’m always keen to share amazing experiences in our home town.
Wishing you an incredible Wimbledon Fortnight.
