Our new Celebrity Editor, Angela Sara West will be taking her family and her fab photographer Stephen Santos @wackpaper17photography, for a delectable day out at the famous Silent Pool’s Christmas shopping event in the stunning Surrey Hills this December.

She chats with Channel 4’s ‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter, Laura Hamilton, about how the Surrey star became the celebrity ambassador for Silent Pool Gin and finds out what’s in store at the brand’s new Winter Bar, plus the premium gin’s forthcoming festive shopping day.

As my diary fills up with exciting Christmas events a-go-go, alongside our sparkling Lady Wimbledon party on Thurs 9th December, another merrymaking date I’m particularly looking forward to falls on Saturday 4th Dec, which sees Silent Pool Gin Distillers’ fabulous festive event full of flavours and shopping ops. What’s more… it’ll be ‘gin o’clock’ practically ALL day!

Spice up this celebratory season at Silent Pool, where the sustainable gin brand have launched their wonderful Winter Bar for Christmas. Cosy, unspoilt and beautifully-decorated for the festive season, the atmospheric Winter Bar boasts soft’n’fluffy sheepskin-bedecked benches and is available for private hire, catering for both small and large parties.

Set in a unique location overlooking the famous floodlit Silent Pool, from which the distillery draws the spring water for their second-to-none gin, it’s a great place for a gin-fuelled pitstop before dining in a nearby pub, a livener before heading home after a walk on the North Downs, or simply to soak up the gin-tastic festive atmosphere as you shop for sizzling Silent Pool goodies for your family and friends.

On Saturday December 4th, everyone is welcome at the premium gin brand’s flavoursome Christmas shopping fest, where you can indulge in gin mince pies, boozy hot chocolate (with gin, of course!) a hearty hog roast, plus so much more… As an added bonus, you can sip on a delightful G&T as you get your Christmas shopping done all in one!

A Place at the Silent Pool…

Distilled on the Duke of Northumberland’s Albury Estate, the sustainable gin was inspired by a group of friends’ common passion for craft distilling, seeing them come together to create a new kind of distillery, producing handcrafted, artisan spirits with uncompromising quality.

‘A Place in the Sun’ presenter Laura Hamilton is Silent Pool Gin’s celebrity brand ambassador. “I first became aware of Silent Pool Gin a couple of years ago, when its beautiful teal and copper bottle caught my eye in my local Waitrose,” she tells me. “A year later, I got to visit the distillery whilst working on a fashion shoot.”

She says she was “blown away” by the beauty of the Silent Pool and its stunning location, nestled in the sprawling Surrey Hills. “But, as a Surrey-based entrepreneur and business owner myself, I was also super impressed with Silent Pool Distillers as a business. Innovative, independent and committed to distilling the finest handcrafted spirits in a sustainable and ethical way. What’s not to like?!!”

Laura’s collaboration with the brand sees her very own bistro, Lord Roberts on the Green, stock Silent Pool wares, such as scented candles, their gorgeous copa glasses and, of course, gin! She says she’s proud to take on the ambassadorial role for the premium brand. “I’m delighted to support a fellow Surrey-based business and to be their official brand ambassador!”

Other famous faces who have visited the distillery include Surrey resident and ‘Good Morning Britain’ presenter Charlotte Hawkins, along with the Countess of Wessex, while well-known visitors to the Silent Pool Gin Garden at the Chelsea Flower Show in the past include ‘This Morning’ presenter Phillip Schofield, BBC Radio DJ Jo Whiley, crafty property expert Kirstie Allsopp, and Virgin Radio Breakfast Show host Chris Evans.
