In honour of World Mental Health Day today, Wimbledon based charity stem4 are holding a special event on Saturday, 15 October from 12pm to 5pm, on The Piazza. The event aims to provide up-to-date information about mental health and a selection of activities that enhance general well being.
The inspirational charity which offers education, awareness and early identification of commonly occurring mental health issues in teenagers will mark WMHD with free health checks, a relaxation zone, cycling, rowing competitions, boxfit and Zumba sessions. Author and journalist Iain Maitland will be signing copies of his book ‘Dear Michael, Love Dad’ and there will be a performance by Chicken shed Theatre Company. There will also be a raffle to win some amazing prizes, with all proceeds going towards the stem4 education programme.
The day will be opened by stem4 CEO and Consultant Clinical Psychologist Dr Nihara Krause, accompanied by stem4 ambassadors Rosie Day and Michael Maitland.
World Mental Health Day (WMHD) is on 10 October every year as an opportunity to raise “awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilising efforts in support of mental health.”
