I don’t like to see myself as the one to let the side down or let myself go. But how many of us find excuses to just throw on yesterdays outfit or cry in despair ‘I have a wardrobe full of clothes but never ever anything to wear’, and repeatedly chuck on the same old black top.  Looking after yourself, making the best of your body and gaining confidence through styling can do wonders (yes, wonders) for your relationship.

If you’re embarking on an adults only mini-break, as we did last week, renewing your wardrobe with flattering colours and styles can truly create an inner glow and positive energy flow…top up your attraction levels and layer in some fun, expressing yourself through colour and style can genuinely make a positive impact in how you are perceived and can be a powerful way to communicate with your other half.

Finding your perfect summer blues, pale neutrals and pops of uplifting yellow are top tips to styling yourself through a successful minibreak. Create a few wows and statement moments. Yellow is the happiest of all the colours, it can lift your mood and is the first colour your eye turns to…take their breath away, show off your best assets and disguise ones you don’t like for ultimate confidence. Piecing together beautiful outfits is all in the prep. Prep, Prep and more prep. Plan your shopping day two weeks before your trip, do a couple of hours of online research (or call your stylist!) and don’t leave anything to chance.

They don’t call it retail therapy for nothing. I know I’m not alone. That heart jumping excitement when you find your ultimate summer floaty maxi dress, sparkly new gold wedges, saucy sandals and the perfect shorts. Let’s be honest, it’s virtually impossible to find flattering shorts these days – not too tight, not too long and please don’t show your bum cheeks!

Discovering your true blue is momentous. It can literally take years off you, make you appear more youthful and confident. Blue releases oxytocin into your body so you feel relaxed and calm. My favourite go-to brand for blue statement dresses, shirt dresses, maxi dresses and well, almost every summer item, is Melissa Odabash. She designs shapes and styles for everyone. I love a ‘suck me in and make me look thinner’ elasticated waist dress, or alternatively opt for pretty belted options to create curves…if you have a waist, don’t wait to show it off!

Top Style Tips for a Divine ‘Adults Only’ Mini Break:

  • Feminine details – floaty floaty works
  • Flattering colours, with some colour pop
  • Belts or belted dresses to create cute curves
  • Gold, gold and more gold
  • Beautiful blues
  • Wonderful wedges
  • Don’t pack black
  • Don’t be scared of the costume
  • Be confident
  • Always pack three pairs of sunglasses in all different shades
