On the walk from Wimbledon Station to the tennis you will pass a range of the best cafes, restaurants, bars and pubs that Wimbledon has to offer. This is my guide on where to eat and drink during the Championships fortnight.

On your route to and from the tennis are two of my favourite fine dining experiences in Wimbledon; San Lorenzo and The Ivy Cafe.

San Lorenzo on your way up the hill is a family run independent Italian restaurant with a huge Wimbledon and tennis history as a favourite restaurant of the players for many years – definitely a place to celeb spot! Apart from the celebs, the food that San Lorenzo offers is incredible. Authentic Italian food made with fresh ingredients, full of flavour and perfectly prepared in this friendly and welcoming restaurant.

The highlight of Village dining for me is The Ivy Cafe. The elegant art deco restaurant which has recently celebrated its first birthday in Wimbledon and has an outstanding menu filled with dishes that will please everyone. No matter what time of day their menu is filled with flavour, healthy dishes and slightly more naughty yet very delicious dishes to tempt you. Their afternoon tea is also one to enjoy and a perfect treat on your trip to The Championships.

Wimbledon is lucky enough to have a fantastic range of pubs but the two perfect places to go for a drink or a gastro pub experience in Wimbledon are The Dog & Fox in Wimbledon Village and The Alexandra in Wimbledon Town.

The Dog & Fox in the centre of Wimbledon Village serves up delicious drinks and they do very good food too, all with a fabulous friendly atmosphere. It will be a very busy place to go during the tennis and will see a huge amount of Pimm’s consumed while they broadcast the matches!

The Alexandra is a wonderful place to eat and drink as it hosts a great outside space with The Loft, and during The Championships it’s a hive of activity which spills out on to the street. This is amplified with Love Wimbledon’s Nosh @ The Place which takes place every Thursday and Friday during The Championships fortnight showcasing musicians and all served up with a delicious range of street food on the street outside. The relaxed party vibe makes it a great place for socialising and enjoying a drink with friends.

For late night cocktails and a great party the two places to head to are Hemingways and The Pod Bar. Hemingways is the cocktail bar of the village and it’s the place to enjoy a classic cocktail after an afternoon enjoying the tennis. Their newly refurbished bar now offers a range of delicious dishes including hot camembert with sourdough to accompany their satisfying range of classic and in-house cocktails.

To continue the party into the night visit The Pod Bar right next to Wimbledon Theatre. Their selection of cocktails and pitchers are fun and tasty, plus the venue is well-known for being the place to party into the night. They have resident DJs, nightclub downstairs and are open till 4AM on Friday and Saturday during the middle weekend of The Championships.
