Last weekend, leading chef Anjula Devi hosted her first pre-Christmas lunch for families. Up until this point, her events with NC Supper Clubs had been based all around adults, but she believes that this time of year is all about family. The best present, after all, is spending quality time together. And there’s no better place to do that than around the table with some great food.

Taking place at the Girasole Cafe in Teddington, diners were treated to authentic Indian cuisine with a festive twist.

On the menu were vegetable samosas and baby peppers stuffed with achaari (pickled) paneer for starters. The mains included chicken with tamarind and coconut and a five spice marinated pulled lamb dish.

The vegetarian option was a rich and smokey aubergine and coconut recipe. To accompany the mains, there were freshly made rumali rotis and parathas.

It was a day full of festive cheer to celebrate the Christmas season with a touch of spice.
