The Wimbledon Tennis Championships are upon us – and with it, an ingenious and easy way to raise money for charity. If you are one of the many residents of SW19 who lease out their parking spaces or driveways for parking during Wimbledon tennis season, why not do so for a great local cause? Homeless charity SPEAR needs your help to carry out their vital work…

Lady Wimbledon is a long-time supporter of SPEAR (www.spearlondon.org) – a charity that supports people experiencing homelessness in Merton and Wandsworth.

Wimbledon Tennis Parking for Charity

Renting your parking space for Wimbledon Tennis? Why not donate your funds to local homeless charity SPEAR

Guiding them through every stage of their journey back to independence, SPEAR helps the homeless to access healthcare – both physical and mental – and to develop the skills and emotional resilience required for independent living.

SPEAR operates Rough Sleeper Outreach services across both boroughs, going out late every night or very early in the morning to look for and offer support to those sleeping on the streets, as well as helping with supported accommodation options. In Merton, SPEAR’s Young Persons’ Hostel houses more than 30 vulnerable young people between the ages of 16 and 25 per year.

New to parking space rental? It’s easy to set up – there are a variety of online platforms and simple apps to let your space through, such as Parklet and Your Parking Space – and it only takes a few minutes. If you are considering renting your parking space, do consider giving back to the local community – funds raised from parking donations would really make a difference to those SPEAR is supporting on the journey from homelessness to independence.

Thank you in advance for your generosity in helping the homeless find a real home in our borough. The ball’s in your court…
