Our Editor-in-Chief Lady Wimbledon had a fabulous experience at Fire Stables yesterday making strawberry tarts, perfect for a hot summer’s day! With the chef of Young’s Pubs, a glass of Pimm’s and a coffee, Lady Wimbledon put together the classic strawberries & cream combo with puff pastry, a favourite of SW19 locals.

So, why are strawberries so popular in Wimbledon?

It is clear that SW19 has a fruity reputation of being berry-obsessed, especially during the tennis fortnight. In fact, 28,000kg of strawberries are eaten every year in Wimbledon, just during the tournament! Many of you are probably wondering why this small sweet red fruit is such a big hit in south-west London.

In 1877 when the first grand slams were ever played, strawberries, cream and champagne instantly became the favoured choice of refreshments during the tennis season. It was ever so fashionable in Victorian England, and has become a staple to the Wimbledon London lifestyle ever since.

Fire Stables has much more to offer than just strawberry tarts! At the courtesy of Young’s Pubs during the Wimbledon Championships, Minuty are offering a lucky winner to have brunch for four at Fire Stables.

From a full hearty English breakfast to divinely tempting pancakes, you won’t want to miss out on this competition for the best Fire Stables experience.

No need to queue up for hours trying to get into the courts, when you can comfortably enjoy your food whilst watching the tennis on screen!

To enter the competition, simply head over to @youngspubs Twitter account and follow, like and retweet the above competition post.

You must be 18+ to enter
Prize to be claimed between 8th – 13th July 2019

Good luck to all participants!
