This is a great DIY option if you have to get your less-than-enthusiastic partner involve, as you can dress up an everyday wardrobe item – such as a little black dress or work suit – with a little make-up or face paints, and a few accessories.
Apply a simple white face and a smokey eye, add a few floral flourishes or patterns with a black eye pencil or red lipliner, and (if you have time to pop into your local party shop) top with a floral headband or a black sombrero. Fiesta!

4. Frugal Felines, Canny Crones and Dark Demons
If the idea of spending money on an outfit you can only wear once a year makes your blood turn cold, then why not shop from your wardrobe?
