Posted by Eyes of Lady Wimbledon | 27 January 2022 | Food & Drink, Guide to Wimbledon

I can still remember the first time I walked by Megan’s in the village, and saw the ladies of Wimbledon scattered along its patio with brunch plates as colourful as the gorgeous blue florals that surrounded them. Not to mention the ultimate sign of a wholesome establishment- dogs inside and outside with wagging tails.

Fast forward to yesterday when Lady W, Amy Day and I started off the week the right way with a Monday morning brunch at MITV.

Weekend brunches at Megan’s are a staple ingredient of a local weekend well spent, but this was my first weekday visit in a long time. I was delighted to see the menu has the same offering as at the weekends; sweet and savoury goodies, brunch, lunch, dinner and bakes.Branching out from my usual order of their iconic open kebabs (it’s the chicken with harissa hummus for me), I went 11am appropriate and chose the sourdough piled high with avo, poached egg and bacon. Lady W had the insta-famous vegan pancakes, towering with chia and coconut yoghurt, blueberry compote, raspberries and pistachios, and Amy went for their answer to the classic full English, the Megan’s Brunch.Self described as ‘loosely Mediterranean’, Megan’s has captured the very best of the Med. The kind warmth of the waiters and waitresses is mirrored in the twinkling lights and comfortable seating throughout the venue. Scattered olive trees create just the right amount of privacy in a welcoming, open space, and a clear view of the pass shows the kitchen is as honest and friendly as everything else. Most importantly, the Mediterranean inspired dishes such as Turkish brunch fondue, shakshouka and mezze, are absolutely packed with flavour (although our English staples are on there too if you’re a creature of brunch habit like me!).If you haven’t been in a while, haven’t been ordering anything new, or simply haven’t yet been, this is your sign to get down to Megan’s in the Village and live your very best brunch life. Make like Lady Wimbledon, and reserve a fairy lit booth if you can. Don’t forget to bring your furry friends so they can socialise with the locals and enjoy a few of the complimentary treats on offer.
