Whether you’re a complete beginner when it comes to exercise or you’ve been out of it for a few years, knowing where to start can be overwhelming.

Exercise is incredibly important and it carries many benefits. In this article, we’ll be discussing exercise for beginners, why you should get started, and what to do in the event of injury.

Why is it important to exercise?

Exercise has been proven to significantly improve your health. It can help to reduce your chance of disease, as well as strengthen bones and muscles and increase your overall fitness levels.

There are various types of exercise depending on the goals you want to achieve. Resistance training, weightlifting, and sprinting help increase strength and muscle power.

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) involves short bursts of repetitive high-intensity exercise, followed by rest periods. This is specifically designed to help you burn fat.

What are the benefits of exercise?

It’s no secret that exercise is good for you, meaning there are many incredible benefits.

Firstly, if you’re looking to get into shape, exercise is a great way to prevent weight gain. You’ll be burning calories, toning up and overall becoming more active.

It can also help to improve your mood due to the amount of endorphins released simply through exercising. It can leave you feeling happier, less stressed, and can boost your self-esteem.

If you’re struggling to fall asleep, regular exercise can contribute to a healthy sleeping pattern. It will tire your body out and you’ll be ready for a good night’s sleep, just so long as you don’t exercise too close to bedtime.

How to avoid injury

Take it easy if you’re just starting or getting back into regular exercise. Beginners can be prone to injury, especially if you’re weightlifting, as inexperience can lead to poor form.

Before doing any form of exercise, ensure you are properly warming up to not put too much strain on your body too quickly. You should also introduce exercise gradually into your everyday routine so you don’t overdo it.

Training too hard can cause serious injury and you must always listen to your body. Don’t feel guilty if your body needs to rest.

What to do if you hurt yourself

Regardless of how experienced someone is, injury can happen to anyone. These events are hard to predict, so it’s always important to know what to do in case you hurt yourself.

You must first get help from a medical professional if your injury is serious. If you’re on your own and unable to move, try to reach for your phone to call an ambulance.

If you were injured while exercising and it wasn’t your fault, you may be able to make a no-win no fee claim, as you could be entitled to compensation.
