A Feel-Good Easter

A Feel-Good Easter

Easter egg hunts in the garden, big celebratory lunches with family and friends, long walks with the dogs followed by time to chill on the sofa all make it a Happy Easter. So with all that comes with Easter, I’ve got some tips to make yours a feel-good Easter.

Scoff Chocolate Easter Eggs

Hide them in the garden or create beautiful centre pieces. A little bit of good-quality dark chocolate can help you to feel happier by releasing endorphins and reducing levels of the stress hormone cortisol in our bodies.

Easter Feel-Good Tip: Snuggle up on the sofa with a feel-good film, a pot of tea, fire (or candles) lit and indulge in your Easter egg.

Have A Laugh With Family & Friends

Easter is a fabulous time to see our family and friends. Socialising can provide a number of benefits to your physical and mental health. It can be fun and make you feel more connected to the people around you. Interacting with others boosts feelings of wellbeing and decreases feelings of depression. Research has shown that one sure way of improving your mood is to work on building social connections.

Easter Feel-Good Tip: If you’re feeling up to hosting an Easter brunch/lunch/dinner then go for it. Or for less work, arrange to meet a friend at your local pub.

More Time For Self-Care

The long weekend gives us a little more time for self-care. Self-care produces positive feelings. It is important to maintain a healthy relationship with yourself, sometimes called self-love. It also can increase your levels of confidence and self-esteem.

Easter Feel-Good Tip: Think about using the Easter weekend to get some valuable sleep, pick up a book you’ve been waiting to read, or treat yourself to a spa day.

Precious Time With Our Beloved Pets

Some of us love dogs! As well as companionship and unconditional love, dogs can have many positive effects on your life. Just a few minutes of petting a pooch signals our brain to crank up production of the hormones serotonin and oxytocin – two calming chemicals that make us feel more relaxed. And stroking your dogs fur also decreases levels of the stress hormone cortisol.

Easter Feel-Good Tip: Go for a nice walk with your dog, or offer to take a friends dog out. It’s a well-known fact that exercise releases good endorphins, which naturally make you feel happier.

Have a Happy Easter!
