Let nature inspire you to fill your home with autumnal elements that will help you to welcome a slower pace, enjoy walks around Wimbledon Common and cosy up in the evenings in the comfort of your home this autumn.

While these last few days of summer have unexpectedly graced Wimbledon we can finally say the weather is becoming autumnally acceptable and that’s fine because we’re ready. Ready to wrap ourselves up in warm knitted jumpers, relish in the heavenly aroma of freshly ground coffee and enjoy all that comes with the change of season. Including updating our home and interiors.

Nature finds a way of inspiring us all as we find ourselves using a new colour palette to create warm atmospheres. Nature does not ask if things “match” or not, it simply explodes and we love it! Seasonal colours are the best inspiration for interior style and decor because we have an innate feeling to be in line with nature.

Welcoming and appreciating a slower pace of life we enjoy the comforts of spending more time indoors, as autumn sets a new mood for us in our daily lives. Seasonal decoration sets a link between nature and ourselves, we become part of a cycle. We feel drawn to darker, richer more complex colours, tones and textures even enjoying the shorter days this time of year brings.

As we temporarily bid farewell to the long summer nights and the light summer colours that we were so obsessed about, we begin to indulge in the colours of the new season. Then as we grow closer to Winter we begin to inject festive colours such as reds, green and whites into our homes and style.

I always use what I have at home for decoration such as display books that are relevant to the season. I fill my bowls and trays showcasing seasonal fruits and vegetables and most of all I like bringing in flowers or brances from the garden often collected from my walks. There is always an opportunity to be inspired.
